International move from Vancouver, BC to Stamford, CT

Zero accountablility

We packed up everything in our house excluding a 50" Flatscreen TV and a few furniture items, chairs, couch and table.

Before the move we spoke with Homeland and they assured us that these items were fine and the movers would be able to pack them for no charge.

Problem #1: We received a ~$700 charge for packing the TV and the furniture.

Problem #2: Our flatscreen TV valued at ~$2k was packed poorly and damaged during the move. Upon testing the TV, it was not functional. We recorded a video and sent to Homeland.

After many lengthy discussions Homeland would not take any real accountability or would not budge on the packing charge. They offered to refund us $200.

The move was already very pricy and they threw in extra charges and did not take any accountability on their mistakes...

Insanity

I need to preface this by saying I read a ton of reviews for this place, and was of course nervous for a long distance move (one bedroom apartment).STAYFARAWAY. They quoted me total about $1700 CAD. Reasonable, right? They show up on time my moving day, good! In an unmarked truck, and they won’t tell me the subcontractor name. Not good! They packed things that didn’t need to be packed in a way (I’ve moved many times before). The two movers (one guy didn’t give me his name, other one named Alex). Unnamed guy was cool, but alex was yelling and laughing on the phone for 45 minutes and tells me “people are nice to his face then always give him bad reviews”. The total bill comes, a total of three thousand dollars after the damage deposit. there was a $550 “packing fee” for god awful cardboard boxes to box up redundant things that could be wrapped. They quoted me 1800 pounds for a 360 square foot apartment without a bed frame. They say it’s a $50 charge to use the scale to get an accurate weight. Naive, I assume they know better than I, so I oblige. Fast forward 10days and probably 8 trucks later (important soon), my stuff arrives late. They luckily seemingly didn’t forget anything of mine, but boy, someone else is going to be upset! I got someone else’s large artwork and 55”OLED TV (will be returned to the rightful owner, hopefully). The delivery people also wouldn’t tell me their company name. Please stay away from this company. Look at their google reviews, they’re all fake. all of the 5 star ratings are from bots, and you can tell. If you reverse-image search the pictures the reviews contain, they’re all over the internet. Please be very cautious with companies that use so many subcontractors, I didn’t know they used them since I wasn’t told. Cherry on top, before you give your nonrefundable 400$ deposit, you deal with a pleasant and helpful woman ([NAME EDIT]?). After you give that money? oh boy! you get the RUDEST phone operators that won’t tell you the names of the subcontractors and tell you complete lies about when they phoned you. Absolutely amazing how they are still in service.

Long-distance move from Vancouver, BC to Toronto, ON

Thank you very much.

I would like to take time and thank you to Homeland Moving and Logistic Services.
We moved from Vancouver, BC to Toronto, ON beginning of this month and received our stuff early this week. I am still in Vancouver for work but my husband confirmed that we don't have any major issues, only a couple of glasses/ plates were broken ( I had packed them :) )

Sales office and movers were nice, clean, kind and helpful.
Now, we are hoping to move our daughter`s apartment with them from Victoria, BC.

Warm Wishes

Moving company review.

My wife and I selected Homeland as the company to help with our intra-Vancouver relocation. This was a January move, and the weather did not disappoint. My first experiences with Homeland were through their receptionist as well as with a home visit to provide a cost estimate. We found their communication to be accurate and timely. We received an email (approx. 6 days before) and a phone call 1 day before the moving day to remind/confirm the moving date and time. We also received a call from the mover to alert us they were 15 minutes away before their arrival.

The movers arrived on time in the morning, were very professional, and worked efficiently together. Our move was a little difficult as we were moving from a three-story townhouse with no direct drive-in access. To make things more challenging, we also had about 2-3 inches of wet snow to deal with, that turned into rain later on in the afternoon. The three movers dealt with the conditions amazingly well, worked fast, but not careless, and took care of our possessions. We required an additional stop to a storage unit before our final destination, and this all worked out seamlessly. At the new house, the movers unloaded the load quickly but thoughtfully, assembling our bed, moving items to designated locations, and overall took care to minimize mud and snow being tracked inside the house. As of this review, we have unpacked about 70% of our boxes, and not one item has been discovered to be damaged. We have also accounted for all our items (again, only 70% unpacked so far).

Overall, I highly recommend Homeland. We had a good experience with the company. Total move time was from 9am to approx. 6:30pm. We ended up paying slightly more (12%) than the original quote (extra working time due to moving load and weather), but this I thought was reasonable considering their initial quote was very competitive and the service was borderline exceptional.

Best Vancouver Movers.

We moved to Kelowna, BC from South Surrey, BC. It was very difficult for us to make the right choice between all of the moving companies around. Homeland Moving provided to us the best quote along with professional communication. They were reliable, positive and hardworking people which proved us that moving could be fun, excited and with minimum stress. We have noticed right away that their crew is like a big family. Moreover, they were handling our stuff extremely careful as well as treating us in a friendly manner which is very crucial nowadays. Our belongings were packed in the most safe and efficient way. Every single peace came safe and functional. Homeland Moving is definitely value their reputation on a market and care about their customers. So far they have been doing perfect and I would like to say thank you one more time and wish them success and growth in future! I will be recommending Homeland Moving to anyone without any hesitation.

Long-distance move from Port Alberni, BC to Ottawa, ON

Grossly Unprofessional

My wife has shared her review on this place, but I will double down on the absolutely horrible costumer service this company has. I was yelled at and bad mouthed by the lady at the “call centre” or dispatch. We also have reason to believe they use fake reviews to pump their business score. They are now trying to dispute our reviews on other sites saying that we never used their services but we have all emails, invoices, text messages saved.

We hired Homeland Moving to move us from Port Alberni, BC to Ottawa, ON.

We arranged to have our house packed up on March 30, 2021, and then it was to be packed onto the truck on March 31, 2021. The crew that showed up was not informed of this by head office and started packing everything on the truck. As we didn't have flights booked until the next day the company offered to put us up in a hotel. We negotiated to have them put the movers in the hotel so we could sleep in our beds/cribs (we have 9-month-old twins). The crew that showed up was also inexperienced and did a careless job of packing and didn't label any of the boxes.

The delivery was promised that they would arrive on May 1st and didn't arrive until May 5th. They told us something about a truck not passing government inspection None of our boxes were labelled, things were carelessly packed and the head office staff were rude and didn't care to find solutions to the problems that arose.

International move from Burnaby, BC to San Francisco, CA

Do not hire this company!

Do not hire this company is you want peace of mind and security in your move.

I booked an international move with this company. After paying a non refundable $750usd deposit, they informed me of a 5 day window (right up until my move in date) and said they would provide me with 24/h notice as to which of these 5 days they would arrive to pick up my things. I was shocked because this is an international move. I both needed to provide my new building managers with an exact move-in date and also needed to travel several thousands of km with pets in tow to arrive at my destination. I told them I needed more than 24 hours notice because I had a move to plan. They danced around my request for 2 weeks. Finally, less than a week before my scheduled move after promising me a date in their previous correspondence, they said they wouldn't be able to give me a date and time until 48 hours before the window they'd offered me, but assured me that their dispatch was on schedule and they would confirm my booking time on Monday. I contacted them immediately expressing my dissatisfaction, telling them I couldn't continue to wait for pickup confirmation (bc trying to coordinate an international move without communication or organization on the part of your movers is absolutely chaotic). Within the hour that I contacted them to express my frustration with the unprofessional customer service, they left me a voice-mail (a voice-mail!) canceling my move (4 days before the window for pickup that they'd offered). They said they could no longer accommodate a custom move (there had been no mention of this being a custom move to date). This was less than an hour after they sent me an email saying their movers were on schedule. I was left scrambling, as all other international movers are now booked solid for the next two months. I had to cancel my flights and rent a uhaul and have a hitch installed + will now have to drive my pets down the coast.

This company is unreliable, unprofessional, and have caused me an overwhelming amount of stress. They informed me that they refunded my deposit, but the refund has still not been reflected on my statement and they have yet to provide the requested documentation.

Do not book this company if you want peace of mind. They're expensive, unprofessional, and wholly unreliable.

Dont hire price quoted is false hold stuff hostage

This company changes its prices like the wind. First, they charge you $750.00 ,deposit to book date to pick up your packed belongings. Then, they charge more money to pack things that normally don"t go in boxes or are too heavy for a mature woman to pack which is another $275.00 then you have to pay up front for the entire move....first quote just under $4,000 then moved to over $6,000 with a final total of over $12,000.00 for almost no furniture, no pianos, no stairs,, just boxes and yes some has books but the amount charged is insane for a 1 bedroom apartment. Then they take you hostage over visa arguments. I showed proof I had landed in USA under I-91 Visa which is legal. I am not working or studying in USA but company insists on Visa that says I am. Or green cars. Doesn't understand NAFTA either hence issue the I-91 visa. Plus, the men loading your stuff up spend all day complaining to you how hard done by they are and how expensive it is to raise a family in Vancouver. Act like a woman on disability is rich! I still dont know if or when I'll see my stuff due to this on going issue of visa and I wonder if the company saw money or was the money pocketed because I was made to pay a lot in cash of that money. Not a happy customer with this mover !!

Long-distance move from Vancouver, BC to Calgary, AB

Homeland is a Terrible Company! Avoid!

Avoid this company!

I hired Homeland Moving back in Aug 2021 to assist in moving my items from Vancouver, BC to Calgary, AB. The initial item pickup was fine but there were a few red flags. Three workers arrived on time but got into an argument with my landlord about using the elevator. When packing up my items, none of the workers wore masks even though we were still in a pandemic and the building required it. The workers moved fairly quickly and there were no issues with them collecting my items - I was provided a sheet with a list of all my items and the costs. The next steps were the worst experience I’ve ever dealt with from any company.

I remained in contact with the Vancouver Move Manager while my items were being shipped from province to province. I requested that I would be provided 72hr notice for when my items would be delivered so I can arrange my storage arrangement - they said this was fine. The next day I received a call from the movers that they were ready to deliver. I informed them that I needed notice since I could not access the storage unit (closed that weekend) and would need time. I contacted the Move Manager and received silence for 5 days - I had no clue where my items were or when they would be delivered. The Move Manager informed me that they would contact their dispatch group and I was given a notice for when the next delivery was going to occur. 30 days later after several emails, the Move Manager was finally able to tell me when my items were going to be delivered. I shared the storage address since it was updated during the waiting period and expected another update. I received a call from an unknown number about delivering my items, they said they could deliver that weekend and I confirmed the address three times with them. The day before the delivery they called to reschedule… fine. On the day of the delivery, the crew went to the wrong address and I had to share the address once more. When the crew began unloading the truck they did not bother sharing the box ids so I can monitor which items have been unloaded. Instead, they said I should take care of it on my own time. Once I realized that items were missing, they did not stress and just suggested that I contact the Move Manager.

When reviewing the unloading of my items, I noticed several boxes crushed, ripped open, and heavily damaged. My bed was missing and a majority of my glass kitchen items were broken. After spending 5 hours in a storage unit reviewing all items and the damage, I provided a report back to the Move Manager where they shared a claim I could fill out. With the damage and missing items totaling $1600, Homeland offered $175. After informing them that this was nowhere near the damage and cost of waste of time, they increased it to $200 - I still have not received anything to this date.

TLDR: Hired Homeland Movers to transport my items from Vancouver to Calgary. Items didn’t arrive for close to 3 months, Movers were rude and disrespectful, while management disregarded my complaints.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY.
